Rema Opens Up On Modest Lifestyle, Avoiding Social Media Display Of Wealth

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has revealed why he avoids showing off his financial success and luxury assets on social media.

Speaking during a recent radio interview with Jam FM, the 26-year-old artist explained that his decision stems from a desire not to place unnecessary pressure on youth who look up to him as a role model.

The singer noted that constant public displays of material wealth could lead young individuals to compare their progress with his achievements and rush their success.

“A lot of young people look up to me, whether they are my fans or not. I have something they want or dream of, so I do my best not to make anyone feel bad about themselves or feel pressured,” the singer stated.

Rema also highlighted the societal and parental pressures already facing many young people today, adding that he prefers to keep his lifestyle simple by wearing basic streetwear over designer labels.

“Everybody has their time, but some people just want to rush it because they see their fellow young person doing well. I don’t want anybody to rush their time or pressure themselves because of me. The only thing that is really lavish about me may be my chains or watches,” he added.
