Reducing voter apathy and safeguarding INEC’s independence
The 2023 general elections, organised by INEC, had 93,469,008 registered voters and 25,286,616 accredited voters. There were 24,025,940 valid votes and 939,278 rejected votes. These figures highlighted the challenge of voter apathy, despite the substantial campaign spending associated with the three leading presidential candidates.
