President Has Everything Working Against Him — Dalung
Former minister of sports Barrister Solomon Dalung has said President Bola Tinubu is the only Nigerian president who has everything working against him.
He said even the governors he allegedly brought into his party the APC are political liabilities to him.
Dalung said in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP-Sunday in Jos; “Look at how they gathered in Osun, and they were embarrassed. That is the evidence against Tinubu in 2027.”
According to him, some of the governors who are contesting for Senate will trade him off for their senatorial seats.
“I know of my friend who is in APC and is contesting for Senate. His people told him APC is only allowed to the extent that he is campaigning for himself. But after his election, he will not mention anything,” he said.
Dalung who also spoke on his job description as the Head Mandate Protectorate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) said it was a very novel idea, adding that Nigerians were becoming apathetic politically.
“Nigerians have developed political apathy because of this belief that their votes do not count. So, the ADC came up with the issue of mandate protection to ensure that every vote cast by Nigerians should count.
“My responsibility is to ensure that Nigerians are mobilised from the polling units to the collation centre, to be very vigilant and ensure that they take ownership of the electoral transition process and their votes,” he said.
He added that they must ensure that their votes are captured into the IREV before they leave the polling booths, adding that the moment they do so, they have handed over responsibility to the Commander-General of Mandate Protection and his men would take it up from there.
Reacting to President Tinubu’s speech to mark Nigeria’s 66th independence anniversary, Dalung argued that the entire speech was wasted 20 minutes Nigerians would have used in trying to fend for a living because he did not say anything at all.
According to him, Tinubu did not communicate with Nigerians.
“So I don’t know when he would tell Nigerians about his re-election because the chances he had was this speech.”
