Kano Court Sentences Man 10 Years for Killing Friend Over Fajr Prayer

A Kano State High Court has sentenced Ayuba Sani Tumfafi to 10 years in a correctional centre for the unlawful killing of his friend, Ibrahim Dan Larai, following a disagreement over waking up for the early morning Fajr prayer.

Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, who presided over the case at High Court No. 1, delivered the judgment after hearing evidence presented before the court.

Proceedings revealed that a disagreement broke out between Tumfafi and the deceased over waking up for the dawn prayer, which later resulted in Dan Larai’s death.

The prosecution counsel, Amina Uba Adamu, presented three witnesses and three exhibits to support the case, while Tumfafi defended himself against the charge.

After considering the evidence, the court found Tumfafi guilty of unlawful killing and sentenced him to 10 years in a correctional centre.

The judge also ordered him to pursue both Islamic and Western education while serving his sentence.
