Campaigning Against Tinubu Will Affect Your Re-election, Group Tells Northern Governors
All Progressives Congress North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement has urged northern governors to stop the ongoing campaign against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the North lest they become victims of their actions.
The group conceded that there were unhealthy campaigns against the President’s reelection in the North, but warned that if the governors refused to act quickly, it would work against their reelection as well.
The coordinator of the movement, Alhaji Ibrahim Khaleel Aliyu, with other directors of the group, made the remarks in Minna yesterday when they inaugurated the 25 local government arms of the organisation.
The group posited that a defeat of the president would give opposition parties and their candidates more strength to campaign and win in the Governorship election that would follow the presidential election.
According to Khaleel, who was the immediate past secretary of the All Progressives Congress APC in Niger State, “We should not allow this trending issue to continue”.
He therefore charged all the local government coordinators and zonal coordinators to return to their wards and polling units and mobilise at least 500 votes from every polling unit for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the January and February 2027 elections
“This election is not about sitting at home; it is not about wearing flowing gowns and displaying bigmanism; it is about going to the people and convincing them of the need to vote APC from top to bottom”, Khaleel added
He cautioned members of APC from romancing with candidates of opposition political parties, saying that, “they are being watched and monitored; at the appropriate time we will take action against them”
At the event, the Special Adviser on Political Matters (Zone B) to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Alhaji Yusuf Tagwai, described the forthcoming campaign “as a war, not a war with weapons but a war with voters’ cards”
Tagwai told members of the Movement that “our assignment is not in Minna; you should go to your polling units, don’t stay in your homes; set up committees from ward to the state level to enable us to achieve our objective”.
